Tim Barrus: The Dark King
I am a communist. The issue is class and caste. The capitalists love putting their wealth in everyone’s face. The old adage – the poor want to be rich, too – is showing cracks in the facade. Americans cannot afford the lives they are living. There is fuel to this fire. Instability feeds on itself. Greed is the gasoline you pour onto the fire and it can explode. When it does, everyone is affected. There is no escape from greed. When the rich finally own all the money, what happens. The poor turn into serfs and slaves. They have always assumed that they can escape the claws of the beast, that they, too, believed any individual can work hard enough to become wealthy. Until they come for you. When the rich come for you where are you going to run. The paradigm of kingdom goes back to at least 3300 bc. The bronze age saw many kings. They ruled over City-States. Opulence was not always gold. Wheat was gold. The pressure was to feed everyone. No king has ever met that standard. The kings who called themselves god actually believed they were a deity. There was no such thing as a middle class to rise up. There were no schools. News was word of mouth. Order was a series of rituals. Just below the king, there were the priests. Wealth was based on how much wheat you had. The King’s slice. Now, you tell me what has fundamentally changed in the lives of homo sapiens. We live. We die. We serve the king. When you chew on the facts, not too much changes. Alexandria will have her turn.
