I WANT ACCESS
Lift yourself up by the bootstraps. The narrative of the powerful, independent (rich) white male is so yesterday. The powerful independent white male is a clown car of environmental disaster, male dominated wars and treason. We do not even know what cognitive development is. $333 is not going to change anyone’s life. Get real. There are two kinds of Americans. The rich and the poor and the one thing we do not see or ever talk about is severe and endemic poverty where there are no answers because we live our day-to-day existence as we rely upon whatever scraps the behavioral economist would allow us, and what is a behavioral economist. Explain. What study. I want a name. Who gets a real piece of the blueberry pie. The rich. What do workers get. One blueberry and if you can’t make that work for you, it’s your fault you can’t access three blueberries.
We do not need you so we marginalize you as irrelevant, and we might send you two blueberries wrapped in kindness and religion. The workers and the rich. I wonder where all the maids will come from to clean your toilets. The rich do not clean toilets. In this entire piece, the word – fairness – is never, ever truly examined. What is fair. What is unfair, and how are we going to survive the rich who are too rich and their day of reckoning will arrive in a flash. Morality, money, and cake. I like Brooks. I have read every word he has ever written. But all we need to do is give people access. We are just not that smart.
