Take notes. Very well-written. I have to give credit where credit is due. French pretty much flays the flesh of organized religion, and this is a good thing because it recognizes the complicity of indifference. That patriarchy is fundamentally beneath contempt. French does not go at it with righteousness. That is my job. The vibe is not unlike a legal brief. Not all that much has changed because the males of the species can and does gets away with – what. Arrogance. Cruelty. Apathy. Insouciance. Detachment. Frankly, I do not get in any way how it is that the male animal dominates – everything. It gives me grief to say this, but women have demonstrations, yet the demonstration paradigm doesn’t work. It doesn’t move us forward. It’s always one foot forward, twenty feet back. Millions of women voted for a sexual predator. Because their husbands, brothers, colleagues, mothers, fathers impose a hierarchy of values where women need to be told who to vote for. In emotional and metaphoric violence that reinforces male prerogative with muscle. People don’t see it this way, but I am glad French brings up Hollywood because it sexually conceptualizes the mirror Hollywood holds up to us. Yes, that’s us. I write screenplays. They only want stereotypes. If I don’t dumb it down, they will never get to page two. It hurts to do that. My characters are strong women. Walk over to the window. Open it. Scream. I’m not going to take it anymore. I’m not going to take it anymore.
