Take notes. The distance between Hiroshima and Seoul is 400 miles. The Koreans know it is in reality, the distance to the moon. History speaks volumes. The next itchy player would be Mao Zedong. The 1950s saw enormous instability. Douglas MacArthur wanted to use the bomb again. And he was the guy in charge. Not so fast. The White House wasn’t buying it. Japan was still a thorn in Harry Truman’s shoe. I am not too afraid of a country whose people were eating tree bark. Everyone is licking their wounds. Still. The entire world has no idea what to do with Kim Jong Un. Any discussion of this nexus omits a big player. Both South Korea and the US have nuclear submarines. We have the big bombs. Huge game changer with the North now building submarines that carry ten nuclear warheads.
Reunification is a fantasy. If the South was ever hit by a thermonuclear bomb, South Korea would lose ten million people. If South Korea were defeated, the North might think twice about a more extensive invasion involving troops (if there were any left) confronted by toxic radiation. There would be enormous numbers of people suffering. How many medics does the North have. No one in our government will say (DOD). The South is building more submarines. The rapist will interject chaos wherever he can. I would advise South Koreans to leave. If a nuclear confrontation happens, it’s the rapist who would release the first bomb. One word: Hiroshima.
