The definition of evil has to do with indifference. When American democracy is indifferent to the American people, democracy itself risks being rendered as an amusing afterthought, one that cannot stand in the face of a dictaorship. Power is power, and people who have it will pull out the big guns to fight to keep it.
The idea that Trump can be replaced through the norms of voting for someone else does not hold the water of historical precedent.
Donald Trump has played havoc with precedent his entire life. The presidency is nothing. The American people can be easily rendered impotent by the American military that has its own precedent supporting Donald Trump. What the American people want is irrelevant. What the American people vote for is irrelevant. What kind of government the American people are ready to fight for is without precedent.
Americans will not be able to transform the political center into anything that might beat Trump. The center cannot hold.
Bill Maher is right. It is no laughing matter.
Mainstream politicians, political commentators, and democratic insider heavy-weights, had the notion that Maher was wrong, maybe crazy, or just too negative in his well-articulated belief that Trump has no intention of leaving the White House.
Trump will remain. Election or no election.
From day one, Democrats have underestimated Donald Trump’s (at the risk of sounding uncivil) dark, barely contained evil unleashed. In the beginning, Trump played muted. Not because conservatives in his administration reigned him in, but because within the context of time, he was just too close to a tentative proximity to an electoral college win which is not a win at all, and is an outdated constitutional remnant we are forced to live with not unlike the way we are forced to live with the fake grievances of a leader who is not even a leader who can produce an authentic photo op without gassing American citizens.
Trump will claim the vote in November was fraudulent.
“I own the Supreme Court.” This statement is not a threat. It is a reality.
Trump will have lots of options, and martial law is only one of them.
Do not underestimate his cold depravity.
He has had plans to undermine the coming election since day one. Anything for power.
The election itself will be ephemeral. We are investing in a process that Dear Leader will scam.
Trump will nullify the constitution. Depend on it. He isn’t going anywhere. He will fight to the bitter end.
