Tim Barrus in the New York Times
Up against the wall again.
The New York Times is not telling the whole story. Trump claims to have seen soldiers on the ground. It is big news in Europe that this is a lie. But it’s not reported in America. Why does this matter in the bigger context of this part of the world. It matters because the person reporting the news is Donald Trump. Our allies are listening. Since when did Donald Trump become a reporter for the New York Times.
How things get reported regarding this embattled corner of the planet matters a great deal. You are relying on Trump’s version of events. So are our friends if we have any left. Did Trump actually see the soldiers. No. He. Is. Lying. That puts everything he has to say about a conflict he has instigated in another light. Since when did the New York Times start buying Trump’s version of a reality he makes up. He heard audio. He had no visuals in real time. He’s lying to us again.
This is part of the story. Our allies do not know who or what to believe. They are as lost in NeverNeverLand as much as we are. I would suggest that what Trump saw and what Trump reported are two different realities, and yet you only report what Trump says.
You need to verify that he saw what he says he saw. How Trump treats us (as stupid) and how Trump characterizes our friends is not only a big part of the story, but it also colors what actually went down so our friends around the world can make better decisions versus the one where they are simply waiting for our leadership to change hands.
