I am tired of reading the CDC’s disingenuous rhetoric. I am going to start responding to their fantasies. This one is a response to an MD there who is full of shit and talks about what great strides they have made.

HIV continues to be a leading cause of death worldwide. There were 1.1 million AIDS-related deaths 2017, including 400,000 deaths among people living with HIV resulting from TB disease. Approximately two million people become newly infected with HIV each year.

HOW is this good news.

The CDC has to stop patting itself on the back. They have totally failed.

I work with young boys who do sex work.

This implies a plethora of social problems that data does not collect.

Like homelessness. Rape in foster care. The lack of services for gay runaways.

Lame stick figure graphics from the CDC that only inspire indifference while the CDC claims it is making big inroads in compliance.

The CDC is in denial.

How many 14-year-olds living with HIV have even heard of the CDC.

Another issue regarding the Hard To Reach is HOUSING.

But let us simply go to sex work.

These kids can be reached. But not if you can’t get them off the street. Do you really think they respond to stick figure posters.

Get real.

Even this piece fails to even mention sex work.

Nor does it mention IV drug use.

You talk about innovation. It’s lip service and rhetoric. Real innovation has to be down here in the trenches.

WHERE is the support for that. Innovation is not simply an administrative function. Many of the adolescent Hard to Reach are hard to reach for a REASON. Or twenty of them.

This is a really depressing article. Not for what it says and claims. But for what it leaves out.
