The crisp uniform of the police officer conveys power and authority. When a police officer puts on his or her uniform the officer is perceived in a very different way by the public. He or she is viewed as embodying each person’s stereotypes about all police officers. The uniform alone can set the stage for violence.

As a sex worker who has been assaulted many times, all of those times were by police. Mainly because they didn’t want to pay. I was the one who paid and paid and paid.

Often, for protection.

I was trying to survive. Mainly the police. Today, if I saw a cop walking down the sidewalk, I would turn and go the other way.

They’re seriously dangerous. I would not trust one of them.

But sex workers can’t be raped, right. After all, we want it.

Mainly what we want is to live. Rape is a way of life, and, often, not a one-time event. There is so much hate wrapped up with these guys. When it explodes, get out of the way.
