Tim Barrus: New York Times

I am a communist. I am also a teacher, a writer, a photographer, and the voice of doom. Who knows what education will look like in the future. Robots will take the place of classroom instruction. We can’t find enough teachers. Technology will save us or will it. Parents Night will be interesting. Hierarchy and capital will be the dog and pony show the US senate and all the old grey men can pontificate as to why none of them knows how to turn a computer on. Or off. If it’s timidity you want, stay away from school boards meetings. There is no timidity there. Power rests with citizens. Are you kidding me. I am writing this on my phone at a school board meeting. I am sitting in the back of the room like the bad kids. The last time I attended one of these meetings, I left, and built my own school. Technically, we had to call it Home Schooling. The reality of boys and girls attending the same school is simply weird because girls do not learn like boys do which is less about any one sacredness as it is about the very idea of gender differences. Hyenas (both genders) are not homo sapiens. I do not know how to work with girls. I can recognize they run the world. But girls don’t think I am a very good student. They know more than I do. Girls should be allowed to skip a few grades just because they are girls. Boys have to go back to third grade. The thing about basketballs is that you can’t really take them apart. Hierarchy and capital are both weapons of mass destruction.
