Going Rogue

We are the culture of greed, death, indifference, cruelty, mass incarceration, poverty, hunger, suspicion, hate, patriarchal monarchy disguised as democracy, and genocide. Within the context of that evil, bête noire – exactly how is that any different from the cultural nightmare that was ancient Rome’s legacy to the world. The comparison is apt because ancient Rome was a slave society that imposed its catastrophic, murderous ruin of a barbarity in every corner of the planet. Exactly what wins. Religion or capitalism. You cannot have both.

It is immoral to kill human beings in the electric chair and attend church on Sunday where you absolve yourself of every ill arriving with asking for forgiveness. There is no forgiveness. There is no god. There was no Jesus. Faith is based on a mythology.

Religion is a corrupt fiction. And kindness is only kindness when there’s quid pro quo. I live in Appalachia. Our children are hungry. Our grandparents are dead. We have no jobs. Our politicians are deceitful. Our water is poison. Because you have poisoned it.

Our forests run with chemicals.

Our coal gives you electricity. Our sons and daughters have no other option but the military. Our incarcerated people are imprisoned for years for petty crimes. Our religously fueled justice is a punishment for having nothing.

There is little heath care to be sought. Nothing but a bare and tortuous existence. How many ways out can we seek. We are never validated.

Try living down here.

I dare you.
