I do not live in your dimension. I am from outer space. I have no idea what gets the reader -- or the audience, off. What you see is not what I see. You see diagrams of a watch. I am seeing an object that represents what is an agreement among homo sapiens.

We do not just have to be somewhere on time. It gets a bit deeper that that. The symbolism must become an icon. You see a watch. I want to see how the guts of the thing works.
I can learn everything from watching how all the pings and zings and sings to hold all the moving parts working and spinning, and clicking all the measurements that humanoids hold dear.
