Tim Barrus: Riots Have Consequences

I am a communist. It is too desperate to watch Americans twist in the winds of change that they created. They put Manchin where he is. He’s the Old White Men Are Still Running The Dog And Pony Show Burlesque Act, and twisting plates to spin by themselves. And watch me laugh, mom, as I stick the knife in and turn it, pulling up, what, bootstraps. What are bootstraps. What is hunger. What is an educational grave yard. What is public housing that works. We will never know because we will never be allowed to know. The old white men win again. Stop. Wait them out. Fight for what you went after. Stare them down. Take the issue to the edges and push back, stick the metaphorical knife in, twist that blade, and it will be over. But isn’t that kinda what they did to us. The answer is to make West Virginia an entirely different country. King Manchin. No one will go to West Virginia and they will all go broke. The new State Capitol is Waffle House. Is humor allowed. I have no idea. Is death funny. Sometimes. More people will die, now. Isn’t that the point. That the White Old Men will never let it happen. Not while they are still with us. Not while the paternalistic hierarchy has shown its teeth in a rampage of their kind. Guess what. They win. Riots have consequences. We have to learn to sit on our hands, and patiently wait for that generation to depart. If we can get them to the boarding gate. Sad. WATCH. They will all cut it to ribbons, and then proudly call it an astonishing success.
